Motorcycle Madness

Categories // Current Volunteer Opportunities

The date of our event this year is July 12 2013

Our website is www.motorcyclemadness.ca We are a non-profit organization who's mandate is to promote Motorcycle Tourism throughout the Drumheller Valley and provide opportunities for local groups to raise funds via providing services to attendees. We also raise funds independently and donated to local organizations every year over the last 9 years.

The organizers who can provide additional information are:
Aaron Bryant at 403.823.8733,
Derek Dekeyser at 403.823.9871,
or Terry Kuhl at 403.823.9675.

You can also leave a message on the website. We usually need volunteers on the Saturday to assist with set up and tear down at the end of the day. This usually involves setting up barricades and directional signage. We would also require volunteers to man the "Poker Run" stops to assist with card selection. This would involve teams of 2 at 5 different locations around the area for about 1 - 1.5 hours / per location. Youth voluteers accepted for setup at 8:30am and take down at 1:30pm.

Tour of Alberta

Yellow, Green, White and Polka Dot Jerseys - Anyone?

The Tour of Alberta - Canada's Pro Cycling Festival is coming to Drumheller - September, 6, 2013. In anticipation of thousands of vistors and an international audience in the millions we need your help to ensure that over 130 elite athletes, 250 team support personal and our community make this a party to remember.

The race will feature many of the top elite cyclists in the world (yes many will have competeded in the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a Espana, etc.) We are very fortunate to have been selected as a race-stage finish community - on the day of our stage - cyclists and their teams - 130 athletes and over 250 team support stafff will be arriving in Drumheller (from Strathmore) for what we expect will be a fantastic finish. The race requires a great number of volunteers - and i'd like to request that you participate in the process by focusing your energy on the recruitmetn of seniors as key volunteers for this event. Whats really exciting about this opportunity - is that the race will be televised internationally - in Canada we will watch live on Rogers Sportnet, with a prime-time rebroadcast nation-wide. The same commentators that follow the Tour de France will be announcing the TOA (Tour of Alberta) race - so you could say that we will have a 3 hour commercial that promotes Drumheller and area along the way.

To give you an idea of the size / scope and impact of the race, please take a look at the following (very long presentation link).

https://www.dropbox.com/s/3wsqw39fm1ekvz5/Tour%20of%20Alberta-%20Symposium%20Presentation.pdf

So be a part of the action, in support of one of the biggest sporting events in Drumheller's 100 years of history.

We are looking for volunteers to provide security, hospitality and race support for the event.
